Elm: a useful and ornamental tree


The elm is a tree of great beauty, for its foliage but also for the imposing size it can reach as an adult.

The elm is a very beautiful tree that is also used for quality of its wood, hard and moisture resistant. this makes it an ideal lumber.

It will find its place in your garden in an isolated way but it is also often found along roads or rivers.

It forms a very beautiful curtain, especially in summer when its light green leaves are sparkling.

Depending on the variety, it is around a hundred years old, but field elm can live up to 500 years.

Elm diseases

Elm is regularly affected by a fungus called Dutch elm disease.

A mulching is recommended. This will prevent weed growth, maintain humidity in the summer, and protect the roots from the cold winter.
